What do you do?

I am a financial advisor for private clients at Stannic Bank. I have been with the bank for 2 and half years.

Why did you decide to embark on your chosen career?

I have always loved banking and I have a strong passion for good customer service. I get to advise high net worth clients on their finances and provide solutions where necessary.

Average Day

I work Monday to Friday and I start work at 8am and I finish at 5pm. I go to the gym from 6pm -8pm. On weekends I usually catch up with girlfriends over movies and shopping. Most weekends we travel to South Africa.

How would you describe your workwear style?

As I work for a corporate organization I always wear formal corporate wear (tailored suits and warm soft colours most of the time).

Where do you shop for your workwear clothes?

I buy my work wear in various retail stores mainly Zara,Mango, Forever 21, Woolworths, Aldo and Statement Boutique here in Botswana.

What do you love the most about your city?

Gaborone is a quiet city that is growing drastically in terms of infrastructure and fashion, however there isn’t a great deal of pressure to live lavishly. One gets to focus on their personal growth and career without feeling pressured. Since it’s a small city that is growing every day there are lots of career opportunities for young people to embark on in order to become self sufficient and independent.

What is your favourite place to go in your city?

The new CBD Masa – there is a quiet cafe ,cinema and cocktails pubs and all in one place.

What do you wish was better about your city?

I wish we had more variety of clothing stores and malls so that we didn’t have to travel South Africa to buy stuff but I believe we will get there in few years .

Is there anything about the culture/city that makes things hard for working women?

I don’t there is anything in particular that is preventing  women in progressing in the work place as we know what we want and that hard work pays off her. However, we  have to prove our worth way more than men but I feel that it is an advantage because it builds us to be independent and believe in our worth.
